In this region we work and live on Treaty 1 land, in the traditional territory of Annishinaabe, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota, and Dene Peoples, and on the homeland of the Métis Nation.
We are dedicated to ensuring that the spirit of Reconciliation and Treaty 1 is honoured and respected. We respect the Treaties that were made on these territories, we acknowledge the harms and mistakes of the past, and we dedicate ourselves to move forward in partnership with Indigenous communities in a spirit of reconciliation and collaboration.

Winnipeg & Area Human Rights Committee Update – Kyle Berry for Khalid Ahmad Chair
Last meeting was a video presentation on the Israel-Palestine conflict.  It was an informative video on the Palestine approach. Next meeting is 27 November. Discussion will be on the Ukraine conflict/war.  Holodomor Memorial Day is November 24 (4th Saturday of November) The Holodomor, also known as the Great Ukrainian Famine, was a man-made famine in Soviet Ukraine from 1932 to 1933 that killed millions of Ukrainians.

Winnipeg Regional Women’s Committee Update – Nicole Papineau Chair
Please check the Calendar of Events for committee.  It shows what is planned for the year and what has been accomplished to date.  The WRWC has a Facebook page to stay connected to members and post anything relevant or of interest to women. 

Winter Wear Drive – West Central Women’s Resource Centre
Collecting of new or gently used items or money to support this drive.

Christmas Hamper Drive Donations – North Point Douglas Women’s Centre
Collecting items such as toys, adult gifts, food hamper to support this drive.

29 November event to learn about the union encouraging engagement from locals and
components.  Working on the networking and mandate of the YW committee.

Resolutions for 2024 PSAC National Convention
Special meeting was held on 19 September which approved 4 resolutions to be moved forward by deadline which was 29 Sep 2023. 

Remembrance Day Wreath – Nestor
Nestor will purchase wreath and Nicole will present it at the Convention Centre ceremony.

Labour Day March update – Nestor
Approximately 20 PSAC members were in attendance.  The march ended at the museum which was giving out free admissions and water to those in attendance.

Santa Clause Parade – Nestor
November 18 at 5:00pm.  Free parking for participants.  Meet at Main Street between York and Portage.  This will be a March not a float.  Dress for weather and walking.  Candies will be purchased.  Members to dress “festive.”  Ideas were as gift boxes with big bows or garland and twinkle lights.  Ted will ensure an email is send out with instructions to the membership for participants.
