Resolutions for 2024 PSAC National Convention
Deadline is 29 Sep 2023.  Marianne gave a brief on what resolutions can be submitted and offered to review any with suggestions.  Some ideas discussed were membership allocations – self identifying, accountability from PSAC to provide info, membership allocations flawed, holding employers accountable to resolve grievances.  No timeline for final level grievances in the legislation.  Lobby the government to change this legislation.  Sub-committee to be set up to write any resolutions brought forward.  The following members have volunteered Valerie Towers, Nicholas Paulak, Craig Adolphe, Keri D’Avignon, Nestor Galarnyk.

Labour Day 4 Sep 2023
Sponsored by Winnipeg Labour Council starting at 3:00 with PSAC marshaling point.  Ted will have banners/flags available.

MFL Political Action Convention update – Kyle/Karine
Karine – first time attending an MFL event, and it was very interesting.  Polls show NDP in the lead with priorities being nursing, health care, and cost of living.  Learned about P3s within the school system and the issues. Attended two workshops – areas and trends that happen with voting and targeting swing areas.
Kyle – First MFL conference and great learning experience on how politically involved the MFL is.  Workshop on analytics and data for showing different issues and perspectives.
Marianne – it was great to send folks.  We have members that work provincially.  Bill 28 by Pallister created many issues.  Health care in the province is an embarrassment.  We can’t do much work politically, but we can talk to members.

Manitoba Provincial Election 06 October
MFL takes the lead on elections and WAC will help out where needed.  MFL is NDP.  We can do phone banks, town halls, and candidates forums.  Sep 20 Marianne is door knocking and members are welcome to join.  Key is educating members of candidates so they can make informed decisions when voting.
