Planning for year events:
Sr MacLennan brought forward that the Pride Parade, as well as the Labour Day BBQ, can be events held in conjunction with the Westman Area Council.

Sr Truscott mentioned Oct 15 – International Day of Rural Women.

Sr MacLennan also mentioned the Women’s Resource Centre. Sr Grant discussed past attempts at involvement and donations of the Area Council. Sr Thor reminded that the PSAC approves budget submissions based more on activity than solely on donations.

Sr Truscott mentioned employees at Shilo are collecting various items for donation to the WRC for International Women’s Day On Mar 8th. Also, another group is 100 Women Who Care. They are gathering together on Mar 23rd and are also seeking donations in support of the WRC. Tickets are $10 to attend.

Sr Zurba offered to reach out to the WRC to determine what programing they offer that we may offer the most assistance to.

All of the group agreed that we were just too short in timing to attempt to participate in any International Women’s Day events this year.

Sr Thor reminded that our reporting package should be to Sr Sherry Hunt by Mar 10th for submission to the PRC on time.

Sr Zurba noted that the Women’s Resource Centre and the International Day of Rural Women appear to be the focus of the group so far. She also brought forward the Brandon University event Take Back the Night in Sept. All in the group were in agreement that these would be our focus for the coming year as they afforded opportunities to connect with other PSAC members in each area.

Sr Grant also mentioned May 5th Red Dress day as another event the Committee can look at in the future.

Budget planning and discussion for each event was decided at $1000 WRC, $500 Take Back the Night and $750 International Day of Rural Women with each sister following up as noted below.
