Minutes of the Saskatoon Regional Women’s Committee November 19, 2019

Attendance: Audrey Berlovan, Louise Mardell, Tasha Felix, Vesna Nikolic, Melissa McGrath, Leila White (by phone)

Agenda – approved

Previous minutes – approved

Saskatoon Mother Centre donation – Corinne did contact them unfortunately they have been forced to close their doors.  Waiting to hear back if they are looking for new space – 300.00 has been allocated for them.

Financial Report – additional funds have been received we are in good standing.

Budget – National/Regional priorities – our regional incentives still to be supported is the Christmas family as well as the Saskatoon Mother center and the PSAC Christmas social.

Rep from the SRWC to attend Area Council meetings – Audrey has agreed to attend

Christmas Family – reviewed the poster Regional office will help by collecting nominations.  Audrey will draft email to be sent to Saskatoon area local presidents.  Nominations will close Dec. 6 a follow-up conference call will be held on the 9th of December to choose a family from the nominations and plan shopping and gifts depending on size of family.

ReDress Project – to be tabled to next meeting – Leila will be the contact.  Dates need to be confirmed. 

International Woman’s Day – March 8th more to come on this will look at community events since this is a national project PSAC will have more information after the new year.

Other business – Dec. 6 remembering the victims of Montreal massacre.  PSAC is offering domestic violence training Nov. 30 – Dec. 1 if anyone is attending they could give a short slide presentation on awareness and signs to look for.  Louise will send out info and posters for the office.  Will review dates of meetings for the new year – Tuesdays seem to be busy for many members.

Other projects – will continue to help with Moontime sisters work bee but may not be practical to use the Regional office as a depot.  Ways we can help in the community: Volunteer at the foodbank. 

December 19 Christmas Open house at Regional office generally planned by the SRWC and the Area Council Corinne and Jackie will plan the details SRWC will donate 100.00 for the event. Bring a donation for the food bank.
