Treasurer’s Report:
Bank balance as of July 31st was $675.33 from June bank statement. Executive still needs to go to bank to change signing authority. Nancy has provided the bank with copy of March 9, 2015 minutes and list of signing changes. She will sent out email to Executive advising that papers are at the bank for signing at the service counter.
Event Planning:
Committee discussed plans for upcoming elections and what we could be doing, originally Marianne discussed with Jacque to arrange an event with UVAE president as he was scheduled to attend meetings in Saskatoon and good opportunity to raise some awareness in a public forum however too short notice.
Nancy stated that she preferred an all candidate debate in the targeted riding of Saskatoon West. She will take the lead and organize the date in September and contact the candidates’ offices to ask for their commitment to attend. Contact with REVP’s office is imperative.
Marianne provided details of what we can and cannot do as a union during the elections. No one expected the writ to drop this early, there are new rules in place for Elections Canada and PSAC National has Morna Ballantyne as her main contact. This is an important election and we need to ensure that our members and the public get out and vote. There will be some training courses offered in the regional offices to get the members involved.
