Sabbir Umaji Bio

Sabbir is serving his first term as the Racially Visible Person Representative on the Prairie Region Council. 

He is currently a supervisor with a team of people under his direction. He ensures there is a collaborative and respectful department through a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to delegating tasks, approving leave, and ensuring the regular attendance of colleagues. 

Sabbir is a union activist and has been active in the union since he was 19 when he started as a shop steward. He has served in a variety of capacities for several years, including being active in his local since 2018. He currently serves on his Local’s executive as president. 

When Sabbir is not helping with union activities, events, and meetings you can catch him cheering for the Edmonton Oilers.
