REVP Statement: Solidarity with University of Manitoba Faculty Association Strike

Dear Ms. Dingwall:

On behalf of our 29,000+ members in the Prairies, the Public Service Alliance of Canada – Prairie Region stands in solidarity with the University of Manitoba Faculty Association (UMFA) in their fight to exercise free and fair collective bargaining. We stand firm in our commitment to support the calls from professors, lecturers, and librarians for fair-wages and for the government of Manitoba to cease interfering in the collective bargaining process.

University of Manitoba students, the future leaders and workers of Manitoba, must receive the best standard of education which means recruiting and retaining the highest quality and standard of teaching and academic professionals through fair compensation.

Therefore, we will continue to support UMFA in their pursuit of a fair contract, free of political interference and in the name of high-quality public post-secondary education.

In Solidarity,

Marianne Hladun

Regional Executive Vice-President
