The recent floods in our neighbouring province of British Columbia, has left communities devastated, in the present and for months to come. Recognizing the emergency does not end when the waters recede, the Prairie Region Council unanimously voted to match PSAC BC region’s donation of $30,000 to the Social Justice Emergency Fund dedicated to the BC flood.
‘It is important to support our fellow sisters, brothers and friends impacted by the devastating floods in British Colombia,’ said Marianne Hladun, Regional Executive Vice President, Prairies, ‘We can no longer deny, delay or excuse the harmful, collision course we are on as it relates to the climate emergency, it is time to recognize we are all affected and must act.’
Additional support is being sought for those impacted by the recent floods from others within the PSAC family. All collected monies will help communities and Indigenous communities clean-up from recent events and ensure they will have the ability to build back better and differently, with special attention and consideration for a just and sustainable future.
