PSAC Area Council Meeting – February 23rd 6:00 pm
As mentioned previously, The Calgary Area Council is reforming. The Committee performs tasks such as lobbying their political representatives, raising awareness of issues affecting our members, and other politically related activities decided upon by the you, the Committee. It is an excellent opportunity to learn new skills to use within the PSAC that you can take back to your Local, and even use in other aspects of your life. Last fall we held an exploratory meeting and would like to express thanks for those who showed interest in resurrecting the Calgary Area Council.
We would like to start with our first meeting of the year Wednesday, February 23rd @ 6:00 p.m. At this time, we hope to elect a Chair, Co-chair and Secretary-Treasurer. All training will be provided not only for the elected positions, but for anyone else who wishes to be a part of the committee. At our meeting, we would also like to discuss any ideas you may have in planning some sort of political action in the weeks to come to support our bargaining teams as they meet with Treasury Board, and ways we can work with other Area Councils in the Prairies to get ideas, and learn best practices.
As work-life balance is important, we will endeavour to keep meetings to 1 hour to allow you to enjoy the rest of your evening. If you are interested in becoming a part of the new Calgary Area Council, or just curious, please click on the link below to register.
