Prince Albert Area Council AGM Minutes (March 7, 2023) via Zoom/Teleconference

Agenda – Adopted by Sherry 2nd by Kim.

Review of Previous Minutes – The Minutes of December 6, 2022, were reviewed. Adopted by Joyce 2nd by Erin. 

Business Arising from Previous Minutes:

Financial Statement – Sherry submitted the Financial Statement for 2022.  Adopted by Joyce 2nd by Kim.

Elections – Elections were held for the executive positions of President, Treasurer, Secretary. The nominations were called three (3) times for each position.  Elections were held by Jacqueline:

President – Dawn Montgrant was nominated by Joyce 2nd by Kim. Accepted. Acclaimed.

Treasurer – Shaina Ledoux was nominated by Dawn 2nd by Joyce.  Accepted. Acclaimed.

Secretary – position was called three (3) times and no nominations were submitted.  Shaina has volunteered to hold both positions (Treasurer and Secretary).

Oath of Office was administered, and executive positions were sworn in.

New Business – Last year’s budget will be used for the new committee this fiscal year.  Sherry will send the package to Dawn, and Dawn will then share with the executive.  It will be up to the new executive to do up a budget and request funding for the 2023 fiscal year.  Also, Kim will forward the Minutes of this meeting to Dawn and Jacqueline to be shared with the rest of the executive.

PSAC Prairies Convention – Dawn and Joyce are already attending.  Shaina to be a delegate.

Prairie Regional Council – Dawn provided a report.  She had recently attended a meeting and the discussion was held regarding the upcoming convention. Grievances, Resolutions and Bylaws were also discussed. All of these topics will be discussed further at the convention.  The Prairie Regional Council is going to launch a campaign through social media to reach out to members to share union information and there will also be a questionnaire to help members to better understand the council, any issues or concerns, etc.  If anyone has any ideas, suggestions, etc.  please contact Dawn.

Education – Jacqueline advised there is strike training still available through the PSAC Website as well as a couple more in person sessions in Saskatoon.  Check the website for availability.  There are also upcoming virtual sessions on:

-Duty to Accommodate

-Economics for Workers

-New Member Orientation

-Getting to Know Your Collective Agreement

Also note that there is a virtual allowance offered if you attend any sessions virtually.
