Prairie Region Council: Support for those impacted by Alberta wildfires & more

At the recent, Prairie Region Council (PRC) meeting council members voted unanimously to donate $25,000 to the PSAC Social Justice Fund with instructions that the money be used for those directly impacted by the Alberta Wildfires. The PRC wanted to ensure PSAC Prairies stepped up to help the people and communities impacted by the devastating fires. An injury to one is an injury to all and we remain committed to supporting our members and the communities in which they live.

ADDITIONAL DONATIONS FOR STRIKE SOLIDARITY

The PRC also unanimously approved a financial donation in the amount of $5000 to NEU – Iqaluit Housing Authority who have been on strike for over 60 days. Additional support of $2,500 was approved for DCL 533 Casino Woodbine striking workers who were locked out by their employer on May 8th. Standing together includes being able to financially contribute in solidarity to fellow workers in order to ensure a fair contract is secured for all.
