National Indigenous Peoples Day 2026

National Indigenous Peoples Day is a day for Canadians to celebrate Indigenous Peoples and culture. This day is a reminder of the importance of continuing to build relationships between our Indigenous members and non-Indigenous members. And the need to continue to fight together to end discrimination and build towards reconciliation.

On this day, we also celebrate the contributions Indigenous members have made to the labour movement, including in the PSAC, and commit to amplifying Indigenous voices in our union, communities, and country in the spirit of reconciliation.

It is important to remember the fight for workers and Indigenous peoples; the fight for labour rights and Indigenous rights are intertwined and our struggle shared. We must listen and collaborate to bring these issues to the forefront, advocate for our communities, and remain united in building a more inclusive and equitable future.

We encourage all members, Indigenous and non-Indigenous, to take some time today to celebrate, reflect, and commit to actions that advance understanding equity, and decolonization in the year ahead.

In solidarity,

Janette Husak
