June is National Indigenous History Month, it calls for both celebration and reflection. It is a time to not only acknowledge the history of First Nations, Inuit and Metis Peoples but also to recognize the ongoing effects of colonization and residential schools that impact Indigenous communities today.
We encourage you to familiarize yourself with the 94 Calls to Action by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Canada to better understand how you can help advance reconciliation.
Community events and gatherings will be held throughout the month to honour and celebrate Indigenous cultures and experiences. Consider attending an event or gathering near you to listen, learn and connect with communities.
