Michelle Hambly became a union activist shortly after she began working in the Public service.
In 2007 she was elected secretary/treasurer for Local 30047 and in the following year she was elected Local President. She held that position until she transferred to Beaverlodge, Alberta in 2015. In the fall of 2015 she was elected President of Local 30045 and has continued in this role. She has also held the Alternate Regional-Vice President for Alberta North since 2011 within the Agriculture Union. Michelle has taken a lead role in her Workplaces Health and Safety committee and Union Management Committee meetings.
At the beginning of her career having a collective agreement made it easier for her to understand her rights in the workplace. To help improve her workplace she began assisting others in understanding the agreements and how to apply them. Being elected to the SV Bargaining team is allowing her to continue this work.
Michelle has worked with Agriculture and Agri-food Canada since 2006 and currently holds the position of Specialized Operations Supervisor at the Beaverlodge Research farm.
