Meeting Minutes
Attendance:

The meeting was called to order at 6:05 pm
- Adoption of Agenda
- Agenda was adopted
- Review previous meetings minutes (February 2, 2021)
- minutes were accepted as presented
- Financial report – S Erb
- Available balance May 3 $1647.48
- One cheque to be written to the LDLC for the amount of $800.
- Remaining balance is $847.48
- S Erb motioned to accept report, Krysty seconded.
- Passed unanimously.
- Old business:
- 2021-22 Project Discussion
- Coutts Hamper bumped up to $400 and will be requesting to use alternate source of items if possible; U of L and MHC Hygiene Drive; Saamis Teepee Lighting; 24 hour Emergency Care kits and Labour Day Soup Kitchen support.
- Prairies Regional Women’s Committee Chairs –
- 2021-22 Project Discussion
- Kitchen Conversations was a huge success and our sisters agreed that they would like to continue the connection across the prairies.
- S Hunt agreed to coordinate use of Zoom with breakout rooms and have discussion points prepared.
- Feel the importance of the women’s call for this action and will seek Dolly’s assistance at getting the word out.
- New Business:
- Gender Equity Task Force-
- The PSAC has put out a document on the Gender Equity Task Force.
- S Hunt mentioned that the recommendations were interesting and encouraged the committee to review them
- Building a network and using local development (mentorship) are ideas that we can continue to do within the Prairies
- Federal Budget Child Care Announcement-
- S Hunt distributed
- Municipal Elections
- K Thomas asked if there is something the committee could be doing for the upcoming municipal elections
- S Hunt and K Thomas brainstormed that perhaps putting together some questions on Women’s Committee priorities and having the questions and responses from candidates sent out to our members for them to make informed decisions would be beneficial.
- Round Table
- S Erb asked about the bargaining conference
- D Poissant is excited to get out and sad about the third wave
- S Hunt is starting to work with the Sweet Grass Youth Alliance (SGYA) on a Worker’s Rights/Union Rights Session. Dolly’s help would be of huge value. The committee welcomes Amber on behalf of the SGYA to attend as a guest at our next meeting.
- Next Meeting: During the week of June 7-11th 2021 at 6pm.
