Glenn Hollyoake Reports
The Winnipeg YWC continues to be inactive. A meeting was held with the aim of re-establishing the committee in late September. I was not able to phone in due to being away on training for my employer. 3 people did attend, unfortunately an executive was not able to be formed. Another meeting is planned in for November 20th.
The Edmonton YWC is currently not in good standing. The committee met on October 17th and I was able to call in. The committee has a plan to fix the issues with their budget, and hold 4 meetings before the end of the year. They are also planning an action for early December. Their next meeting is scheduled for November 21st.
I have received a number of Young Worker contacts from Diane in the Calgary RO. I have spoken to a couple and hope to be holding a meeting there before year end.
I have received contacts from the Regina RO and other PRC members. I am planning a meeting before year end.
In addition to working with the YWCs in the Prairies region, I’ve been meeting with my national coutnerparts both formally on the monthly working group call and informally. On PRC I have been assigned to the Communications Committee. I have not been able to attend a call since joining the committee due to work requirements.

The Winnipeg YWC continues to be inactive. Multiple attempts to restart the Winnipeg YWC have been unsuccessful.
The Edmonton YWC is currently inactive. Elections were held on January 15th and there was no interest from the outgoing in Executive in continuing. Many of the former members are involved in Edmonton AC as well as a component Young Worker Committee.
I have received a number of Young Worker contacts from Diane in the Calgary RO. I have spoken to a couple and hope to be holding a meeting there soon.
A meeting to establish a Regina YWC will be held once a date is settled on.
In addition to working with the YWCs in the Prairies region, I’ve been meeting with my national counterparts both formally on the monthly working group call and informally. On PRC I have been assigned to the Communications Committee. We have not had a meeting since the last PRC meeting in November.
The last few months have been a time of excitement, and of frustration. My time has been mainly preoccupied with my growing family, and with CIU SK Branch Business. The COVID-19 pandemic has brought numerous challenges. Most of my Branch work locations are operating with reduced hours, and our two International airports in Saskatchewan have no flights. There is less work than usual, and considerably more uncertainty. I have been involved in Temporary VSSA negotiations as of late.
I was recently elected as a delegate from CIU SK Branch to the CIU National Convention in July. I presented two Young Worker resolutions that we on PRC have passed to go to the PSAC Prairies Convention to my branch, and they have been passed to go to the CIU National Convention as well. I am proud to go and speak on these resolutions as I believe strongly in them.
