Report of the Alternate REVP to the Prairie Region Council submitted for the April 2013 meeting. This report covers the period from the last PRC meeting.
Deborah Ferguson, Alternate REVP
Report to the Prairie Region Council
April 2013
I was notified that I was elected alternate Prairies REVP on September 13, 2012. I knew I had big shoes to fill with Sister Marianne Hladun leaving the Alternate position to step into the REVP role. Sister Hladun administered my Oath of Office when I attended my first Prairie Region Council Meeting held in Regina, Saskatchewan on October 12, 2012!
During my first Prairie Region Council Meeting I was selected to be on the bylaws committee. This would assist all the PRC (Prairie Region Council) members to determine the responsibilities of their “role”, and what that would all entail. During this time period, the bylaw committee has held a conference call, and will be meeting on April 18, 2013 to further discuss the bylaws.
Shortly after being elected as the Alternate Prairies REVP, I attended the National Day of Action where I spoke to Global News. During this time period, I was able to attend several Edmonton Area Council Meetings, as well as the Edmonton Regional Women’s Committee meetings in Edmonton, Alberta this included the Annual General Meeting where I was asked to swear in the newly elected executive members!
I have attended the National Leadership Seminar in Ottawa and was able to utilize some of this training when I attended the Canada Revenue Agency rally as a guest speaker.
At the October PRC meeting, it was determined that in order to keep the lines of communication open with PRC members a monthly conference call would be conducted. These meetings were scheduled for:
- November 13, 2012
- December 12, 2012
- January 8, 2012
- February 12, 2012
- March 12, 2012
- April 9, 2012
I have been able to attend all scheduled calls, and have been able to utilize the information received to pass onto PSAC members! **Note** One scheduled call was canceled due to an unforeseen event.
During the last six months of my term, whenever possible, I have attended every Edmonton area event, and look forward to continuing to do so! Please do not hesitate to contact the undersigned with any questions or concerns.
