Leaders are part activists + part visionaries + part connectors to details /planning /strategy. Leaders embody passion and union values. Everyone has the potential for activist leadership. The Prairies Mentorship Program is designed to bring seasoned and new activists together to work and learn from each other while making a difference in our union movement. We are looking for Mentors for this program!
We ask that mentors are open to sharing their experiences and learnings. Mentors must have deep commitment to union, human rights, and social justice values. We are looking for mentors who believe in the power of mentoring, have expertise and are willing to invest the time and energy to share it, and are committed to union diversity.
PSAC Prairies is creating an initiative to encourage and train a new cadre of leaders focused on activism in the union and community. The Prairies PSAC Mentorship Program will pair mentors and mentees to complete a series of goals with a final project to create meaningful connections in the union movement and community.
The commitment to the program will involve a 2-day workshop on April 29 and April 30, 2024 and a final wrap up in the fall. From May to October – there are 6 activities we ask the mentors and mentees to participate in together. The 1st meeting begins with an opportunity to meet 9 other pairs and work through the potential of being a mentor or a mentee. Each pair will meet with PSAC staff person for periodic discussions.
There will be 3 sessions of the April 29 and 30th : Edmonton, Saskatoon, and Winnipeg. Members from across the region can apply to the Mentorship Program.
