Participants will build the knowledge, confidence, and skills to effectively speak about Alberta’s academic sector and the challenges facing academic workers today. Participants will explore the differences between organizing and mobilizing, the core principles of labour organizing, and how these approaches build worker power.
The course will examine the intersectional issues that shape workers’ experiences, with a particular focus on precarious work in the academic sector. Participants will also explore broader social, economic, and political trends, develop an understanding of how trends influence campaigns, and learn strategies for creating momentum and driving meaningful change.
