Disability Pride Month 2026

July marks Disability Pride Month. It’s a time to acknowledge disability as a valued part of human diversity and to celebrate the strength, resilience, and contributions of people with disabilities.

While Disability Pride Month began in 1990 alongside the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act, it is now recognized around the world, including in Canada. Today, 22% of Canadians—more than 6.2 million people—live with a disability, making accessibility and inclusion essential to building strong communities and fair workplaces.

Every worker deserves a workplace that is accessible, inclusive, and free from barriers. PSAC is committed to supporting the ongoing work toward equity, accessibility, and the full inclusion of workers with disabilities.

This month, we encourage you to learn more about disability rights, listen to the experiences of people with disabilities, challenge ableism wherever you encounter it, and reflect on how each of us can help build more accessible workplaces, unions, and communities.
