Opposition to the Notwithstanding Clause AB Contact your MLA

On October 6, 2025, approximately 51,000 teachers across Alberta began a province-wide strike over class sizes, student needs, working conditions, and wages.

On October 27, the Alberta government passed Bill 2 (‘Back to School Act’), forcing teachers back to work, imposing a four-year contract, and ending local bargaining. The law also invokes the Notwithstanding Clause, blocking Charter challenges and overriding the right to strike and to collective bargaining.

This is a dangerous precedent. The government is using extraordinary powers to silence workers and weaken labour rights for everyone. Take a stand against this undemocratic decision by writing to your MLA today!
