Financials

$ 1136.03 in the Bank Account as of August 1st, 2023.

Michelle mentioned that we have a stale dated cheque for $200 from Sofias house will have to re issue it.

Brea asked about update for signing authority. Waiting for Bank to call Sandra to sign documents.

New Business

Amy suggested a book Drive

-people could purchase books for 2 dollars and proceeds would be donated to charities

– books could be handed out to people/ organizations who can’t afford books

– do it in the different centers that the Women’s committee serves

Possible draw back to book drive would be the effect this could have on local libraries with the privatization agenda of this Government.

Michelle mentioned that Edmonton holds a clothing drive and maybe bring that to Regina. Logistics of the clothing drive could be problematic for things such as storage especially if we can’t donate all the items.

Brea reminded committee members that we had made a commitment to include all different parts of the committee in Southern Saskatchewan

Angie from Weyburn suggested donation of Menstrual products again in the different cities/towns in southern Saskatchewan,

Suggestion was made to maybe volunteer with organizations that we are already volunteering for .

Organizations already being volunteered with

Food banks, Friendship center, women’s committees at church, Habitat for Humanity, Church, Child and Youth advocacy center, Parent councils, Operation Smile, Regina Sexual Assault Center, Dog Rescue, United Way, Loss support group, Treatment centers, Soup Kitchens, YMCA

Decided that people should think about all the ideas for next meeting.

No old business

Nothing for round table from Folks
