The purpose of this course is to build meaningful, long-term relationships with Indigenous Peoples inside and outside of our workplaces, with the aim of supporting decolonization and increasing Indigenous Peoples’ representation at work and in the union.
This Advance course is open to all PSAC Prairie Region members who have completed PSAC Talking Union Basics (TUB) course either in person or virtual or PSAC Our Communities, Our Union, Our Rights: An Introduction to the PSAC for Indigenous Members (OCOUOR) course or equivalent. This course begins the process of providing a basic awareness of Indigenous Peoples’ history and culture as well as contemporary issues.
Approved participants will travel to Winnipeg on Saturday, August 26th to arrive by 2:00 pm. Classes are held daily from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, as determined by the facilitators. Please note there may be one or two evening activities, as determined by the facilitators.
There is a limited number of seats for the course, and all applications for the course will be processed by the PSAC Prairies Region. Approved applicants will be contacted by August 7th.
