On April 28 people across Canada stop to remember workers killed, injured or disabled on the job. We ask that on April 28 you and your union local take a moment to honour their memory by joining local events or having one at your local.   You can find an event near you by scrolling down to view regional listings below.    Please also take a moment to read the letter from our Health and Safety Officer, Clint Wirth, below.   Posters for printing and sharing:

In 1966, the United Nations proclaimed March 21st as the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. While there has been some progress with respect to racial justice, racism persists in Canadian society, there has also been some erosion of human rights over the past decade.

We are currently seeking volunteer representatives to sit on the Steering Committee for the Prairies Regional Racially Visible Conference, to be held in fall 2016.

The first PSAC regional conferences for racially visible members will take place next year.  To prepare, we have developed a survey seeking input from members who self-identify as racially visible.

The 44th International Convention of the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists (CBTU) will be held in Chicago Illinois at the Hyatt Regency May 20-25, 2015.  The theme of the Convention is Owning Our Future-Building Our Community.

This year marks the beginning of the International Decade for People of African Descent: Recognition, Justice and Development proclaimed bythe United Nations’ General Assembly to recognize “that people of African descent represent a distinct group whose human rights must be promoted and protected.”
