Closing bank balance and book balance $191.48

Marianne approved the following projects 

  • $800 Labour Council to cover 2021 Labour Day Events
  • $426.62 to Med Hat Labour Day Events
  • $250 Women’s Shelter to Medicine Hat Shelter (calendar proceeds)
  • $250 for YWCA (calendar proceeds)

d) Old business:

Summer/fall Recap

1)    Akah’kohsiiksi event Children’s Honour Dance July 1, 2021

– full day of events, with support from the Lethbridge Area Council, children’s dance, vigil

2)    Labour Day

– $800 to the Lethbridge and District Council to support their labour day events (support to women’s shelters, Lethbridge soup kitchen, and SAGE clan)

 – $426.62 to support Medicine Hat Labour day events (food drive to support Mustard Seed, Food bank, Women’s shelter)

3)    National Women’s Conference

– three members of the committee were at convention

                –  two of resolutions were passed and will move to national convention

                – prairies caucus suggested a relaunch for the women’s committee and to have more social events

  • excellent panel Faye Johnstone, Julie Lalonde, Rabia Kheder
  • Missy Taylor won the delegate position to PSAC National Convention
  • Karen Sutton won the 2nd delegate position to PSAC National Convention

4)    October 4 Sisters in Spirit Day

– Krysty and Sherry attended the event

e) New Business:

(1)  16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence (November 25- December 10)

16 days of action, donate journals, online petitions, letter writing, walking with Sage Clan, Medicine Hat Women’s Shelter Society would like to partner with Lethbridge Regions Women’s Committee

Motion to ask for $550 from Marianne to cover lighting up the Saamis Teepee in Medicine Hat.

i)     November 25th   International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women

ii)    December 6th National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women

iii)   December 10th Human Rights Day

f) Round Table:

Regional Women’s Committee to host a leadership panel in the Spring with newly elected municipal councillors
