TUB – Talking Union Basics (Edmonton)

Friday, May 28th, 2021 - Saturday, May 29th, 2021

8:30am - 5:00pm

Facilitator: Oneil Carlier, Carm Chan, Lindsey Sparks

Registration deadline: Friday May 14th, 2021

Talking Union Basics is the union’s key “introductory” education event. This course is intended for newly active members just starting to engage in union education. We have converted the in person education experience over to a virtual setting. We will discover what it means to be a union member and how your union (PSAC) works. You will learn more about your collective agreement, your employee rights, and your rights as a member of the PSAC. You will explore the many opportunities to be active in the union and how to help build strong locals in the Prairie region. It is recommended that members take Talking Union Basics course as they provide a solid foundation for other, more advanced, PSAC courses.

We recommend having access to a computer with a camera and reliable internet to make the education experience more interactive and enjoyable. Loss of salary will be provided if required. The hours of course are 8:30 am to 5:00 pm but with several health breaks from the screen, throughout the day.

Members who are scheduled to work during course hours are entitled to claim Loss of Salary costs; as claimed under your Leave Without Pay for Union Purposes. Please provide a copy of your work schedule to your Regional Office.
