PSAC Prairies Mentorship Programme

May 27, 2023 - May 28, 2023

9:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Edmonton, Saskatoon, and Winnipeg

Facilitator: Prairies Staff

Leaders are part activists + part visionaries + part connectors to details /planning /strategy.  Leaders embody passion and union values.  Everyone has the potential for activist leadership.  The Prairies Mentorship Programme is designed to bring seasoned and new activists together to work and learn from each other while making a difference in our union movement.

Mentor: Have you been an activist and leader who has made a difference within the union movement.  Would you like to work in tandem with a new activist to create a legacy project? Would you like to pass on your experiences and knowledge?  Would you like the challenge of mentoring new leadership in the Prairies.

Mentee: Are you beginning to realize a passion for union activism and would like to explore the possibilities of leadership? Would you like the challenge of creating an event or project that will engage PSAC members well into the future? Would you like the opportunity to work with other union activists to connect union and community activism?

PSAC Prairies is creating an initiative to encourage and train a new cadre of leaders focused on activism in the union and community.  The Prairies PSAC Mentorship Programme will pair mentors and mentees to complete a series of goals with a final project to create meaningful connections in the union movement and community.

The commitment to the programme will involve a 2-day workshop on May 27 and 28, 2023 and a final wrap up day on Jan 13, 2024.  From May to Dec – there are 6 activities we ask the mentors and mentees to participate in together.  The 1st meeting begins with an opportunity to meet 9 other pairs and work through the potential of being a mentor or a mentee.  Each pair will meet with PSAC staff person for periodic discussions.

There will be 3 sessions of the May 27 and May 28th meeting: Edmonton, Saskatoon, and Winnipeg. Members from all regions can apply to the Mentorship Programme. *** DEADLINE TO APPLY is Friday, April 7, 2023 at 5 pm MST ***
