9.1 Call
to order
Mary Veilleux called the meeting
to order at 5:30 p.m.
Review of Agenda and call
for any changes.
9.2 Adoption
on Agenda
Tamara made a motion to approve
the agenda as presented, 2nd by Niru. All were in favour. Motion Carried
9.3 Approval
of previous minutes
Motion to accept minutes as
presented was made by Tamara Kozlowska, 2nd by Niru Channon. None
opposed. All in favour. Motion Carried
Business arising
from previous Minutes
BBQ- was a
huge success and members of the UFCW who volunteered
did an incredible job. There
were over 1250 burgers cooked and EAC
will send out a letter to acknowledge
their contribution and show of
solidarity. Tamara will contact
office to get list of names and report back to Chair. Mary will ask
PSAC about sending a certificate of appreciation.
AFL Equity Forum
- scheduled 24 September 2004 in Calgary. Mary stated that 4 names
were submitted to attend. Patty Ganzer will not be attending as she
has resigned from Council due to personal reasons. Therefore 3 remaining
names stand. Elaine has received full funding from Component thus
leaving 2 members wishing to attend from the EAC.
Council members will request
funding from their Components/Locals.
Elaine made motion that up
to $250.00 would be paid from EAC to cover expenses for Louise Patrick
and Cindy Kraus to attend, seconded my Tamara. All in Favour None
opposed. Motion carried.
AFL 10th Annual Kids
Camp - Tamara reported that there were 2 children of a PSAC
member selected to attend.
Prairie Regional
School Planning Committee - Niru sits on the Organizing Committee
and reported that a conference call to commence planning for school
next year had taken place "location and shared accommodation" is being
decided. More to follow.
Grievance campaigns
have begun. Elaine Haase reported that UNDE has over 300 grievances
within her UNDE Local (30905) surrounding issues that reflect our
current negotiations. The EAC would like to see greater participation
in future.
Area Council President's
Conference Calls - none have taken place since last EAC meeting.
9.5 Reports
PSAC PRC:
Niru Channan reported the PRC meeting date has moved to October 04
in Calgary at the Westin Hotel. PRC Convention is scheduled for 25-26
June, 2005. Discussions about strategic locations was also discussed.
Niru expressed her disappointment with the "All Candidates Forum"
as there was no media coverage and the turnout of membership was poor.
It was expressed that the same people are always doing the work and
new faces would be welcome.
AFL Environment:
Jo Chelick - Absent - Nil Report
AFL Executive meeting
and RWC: Tamara Kozlowska gave an update on the Women's Conference
scheduled for the Prairie Region on November 26-28, 2004 at the Sheraton
in Winnipeg. Selection criteria will include union involvement. Tamara
also provided a copy of an Employment opportunity with the CLC (attached).
Treasurer Report
- EAC has $649.73 in account and $200.00 petty cash. Elaine asked
that the Treasurers Report be accepted as presented. All were
in favour. Carried

Business
PSAC Regional School-
This agenda item was covered
in Niru Channon's report.
Federal Election
Report - Liberal Government has a minority government.
Collective Bargaining
Report- Parks ready to strike/CRA at Conciliation/T/B Tables
are preparing to present to Conciliation Boards.
PSAC web site contains
all bargaining info and is posted on a regular basis. Members are
encouraged to read this site.
EAC Monthly Meeting
- August meeting cancelled. Decision of Council members.
EAC September Meeting
scheduled for Sept. 8, 2004. Agenda to follow.
