GENERAL COURSES
Registration
To register, please contact your Regional Office by phone, e-mail or fax. If you are registering by fax, please use the General Course Application Form found on this website.
Course Times
General courses are usually 1-2 days in length and are conducted on Friday evening and Saturday, two consecutive Saturdays, or the full weekend (Saturday and Sunday). Please check with your Regional Office for specific course start and finish times.
Course Locations
General courses are usually held in the Regional Office boardrooms. All PSAC functions are smoke-free and participants are asked to avoid the use of scented products such as perfumes and aftershaves.
Expenses Covered
Participant expense reimbursement is based on the principal that members will not be “out of pocket” when attending PSAC education activities. In-town participants will receive $10 for evening sessions and $25 for full day sessions, upon successful completion of the course. Out-of-town participants will be reimbursed in accordance with the PSAC Travel Policy – further information is available from your PSAC Regional Office.
In accordance with the PSAC Family care policy, family care expenses of $35 per day for the first dependant and $15 per day for every additional dependent (appropriate receipts required) for 1 day or weekend courses.
Reasonable Family Care expenses (appropriate receipt required) will be reimbursed for evening courses.
Shift workers who are scheduled to work during course hours will be paid loss of salary (shift schedule and approved "Leave without Pay for Union Business" form required).
ADVANCED COURSES
Registration
To register please submit a completed PSAC Advanced Training Application Form by the registration deadline, to your Regional Office.
All candidates must have either completed the Building Union Solidarity (B.U.S.) or Talking Union Basics (T.U.B.) course or have a demonstrated basic working knowledge of union practices and principles.
The selection process for course participants varies from course to course, so please ensure your application form is fully complete when submitting it to your PSAC Regional Office.
Expenses Covered
Transportation, meal costs, incidentals, room covered accommodation, loss of salary and Family Care costs will be reimbursed in accordance with PSAC policies. Please contact your PSAC Regional Office for further information.
