There will be a Mini-Union School held in Red Deer (location TBA) on Friday, December 1 and Saturday, December 2, 2017. The Mini School will start at 5:30 pm on Friday and a light meal will be provided.
Friday night’s workshop will be “What Stewards need to know about Health & Safety”: Are you a Steward or Local Officer who wants to know more about the roles and responsibilities of workers, employers and unions regarding healthy and safe workplaces? Are you looking to gain increased confidence talking with other members about their health and safety rights? Then this workshop is for you! Come and join us and leave being able to build on the Safety and Health at your worksite.
Saturday’s workshop will be held from 9:00am to 5:00pm. “The ABC’s of UMC’s”: Are you a Steward or Local Officer who would like to develop your basic knowledge, skills and techniques for being effective during meetings with management and more specifically Union Management Consultations? This one-day workshop will introduce you to Union Management Consultation and provide you with awareness and skills to deal effectively with these types of meetings.
Both are open to all Stewards, Local Officers or those that may be interested in becoming a Local Officer.
This course is for members residing in the Red Deer area from Lacombe, Innisfail, Blackfalds, Drumheller and any small communities in the area.
