About PSAC Prairie Region

Prairie Region at a glance

  • Our region is made up of more than 25,000 members from Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta.
  • 221 Locals carry out the day-to-day work of the PSAC in the Prairie Region. Our Locals range in size from 9 members to more than 3,000 members, and we have one Directly Chartered Local. 
  • Our members come from a variety of workplaces and employers, including the Federal Government, Federal Agencies (Parks Canada, Canada Revenue Agency and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency), airports (Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Regina, Edmonton and Calgary), crown corporations (Canada Post) and Casino Regina.
  • The five PSAC Regional Offices (Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Regina, Edmonton and Calgary) and a staff of 24 support the work of the PSAC in the region.
  • There are 8 Area Councils, 7 Regional Women’s Committees, 4 Human Rights Committees, and a 24-member Prairie Region Council headed by Sister Robyn Benson, the Regional Executive Vice-President for the PSAC Prairie Region.
  • The Prairie Region Council Education Committee includes one representative from each province and Judy Shannon (Regional Education Officer).
  • Formed in 1966, the Public Service Alliance of Canada is one of Canada's largest unions. It represents more than 172,000 people from coast to coast to coast, the PSAC also represents people who work abroad in embassies and consulates.
